Shoqërues teacher

Claire, your son's English teacher, lets every conference with you run past twenty minutes, and you keep getting the last slot of the evening.

Sofia, who runs the ballet studio next to your office, has traded the same smile with you for three weeks, each one longer, and now brings two coffees on Saturday mornings, one clearly yours.

Addison, the early-learning teacher, slipped you her number at pickup, folded inside a construction-paper drawing one of her students made and addressed to you by name.

Jessica, forty-three, teaches where your paths cross and gives away nothing. Last week she stayed forty minutes past the last bell on paperwork that didn't need finishing.

Alejandra, your language tutor, stays twenty minutes past the hour you're paying for, and neither of you has touched the invoice.

Professor Laura called you into her office for something unrelated to the syllabus. Three weeks of office hours have run forty minutes long, and her assistant now reschedules around you.

Elizabeth holds your office hours open past the posted time, door shut, without saying why. She's a strict professor with a brutal red pen, and your wife's best friend.

Emily, forty-five, eats dinner at your place on the weeks her husband travels for work, instead of alone at hers. Your stepsister has made it routine.

Since you bumped into Jana at that café last month, she's been at the same table, same time, every week, laughing a little too quickly when you sit down.

Your private tutor lets each session run well past the hour you're paying for, cool and exact, and neither of you mentions the clock.
